Which teams are heart favorite in the upcoming mega world cup T20 event 2016?

I am going to provide you the complete deta about strengths and weaknesses of each team to see which teams are going to be heart favorites to win the upcoming world cup. During the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 my predictions for all the 4 semifinalists came true (even before the world cup started). Who is the heart favorite to win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015? )

List of favorite teams in the upcoming mega world cup T20 2016

1.       Srilanka:

Sirilanka Cricket team

Let’s talk about Srilanka, currently the number 1 team in T20s according to the (ICC) rankings. They are always one of the most consistent performers whenever it comes to ICC events.
They have some talented names like Dilshan at the top of the order who is attacking, consistent and most experienced campaigner. And then partnered with Kushal Perera, they have one of the most deadly opening combinations. They have no worries too about the death overs as long as they have Malinga in their side. If ever there come a situation like where they are defending more than 9 runs in the final over even most probably I would place my bet on Malinga once again.

With Sangrakarra and Jayawardene retirement there will be a lot of pressure on Mathews to be consistent in the middle order and especially in the death overs. Thisara Perera can be an attacking all-rounder and Chandimal is a very talented, but I think still the middle order looks a little bit weak.

Leaving the star fast bowler Malinga out, they might have to face some serious problems with their bowling attack. Kulasekara is very experienced but expensive some of the times, Mathews is not bowling much off late or even in the death overs but their spin department is in extremely good hands with both Senanayake and Dilshan.

2.       West Indies:

West Indies cricket team celebrate World Twenty20 victory

West Indies whenever comes to ODIs and Test Matches have all kinds of troubles. But they are extremely dangerous while they are playing the shortest format of cricket.

They have a tremendous name of cricket boom boom Chris Gayle who needs no introduction on how destructive he can be. The great fact is that the tournament is being played this time in India will give a lot of confidence for the West Indies players as they are very well used to these conditions playing in IPL.

Dwayne Bravo, Gayle, and Pollard, all being stars were taking part in IPL. Now they have to take up the responsibility. West Indies bowling looks a worry without Sunil Narine. But one the other hand Samuel Badree can take up the additional responsibility being number 2nd ranked bowler in T20s right behind the Sunil Narine. He also has the one of lowest economy of 5.39 in International T20 format.
One of the biggest problems though is playing together and consistent. They have got the talent to beat any team of the world on a given day but can they do it on regular basis in the tournament like this world cup? If yes they can, then it would be a very task difficult to stop them.

3.       Australia:

Australia being current world champions in ODI cricket. Is the only team in the world in top 3 in all the three formats, Australians have got the batting in David Warner, Steve Smith, Maxwell and Finch. These all guys have experienced in IPL, and they are very destructive and consistent performers. In fact a deadly combination. In form of Faulkner they have a finisher and a good all-rounder. These days Mitchell Starc is at the top of his game. His injury can be very unfortunate for Australia but we hope that he should be fit before the start of this world cup. Australian bowling is in very good hands. Watson can also chip in with some of the middle overs and his experience can helps lot for the team of Australia. Faulkner can be very decent. But one thing which is worth mentioned they have is the lack of a quality spinner. Maxwell can be good option in spin department. Lyon hasn’t bowled too much in colors for Australia in the past. Not quite sure about them how are they going to go about it.

4.       England:

England Nets Session

Comparatively England had completely changed the way of approach to the game. Now they have become more aggressive, and they are adapting a better way to the shorter formats. As they were always good in whites but from the past few years they are doing something remarkable in the shorter formats too.

They won ODI and T20 series in Abu Dabi against Pakistan might have given them a huge morale boost against Pakistan. They a strong batting side with Alex Hales on the top, and non other than Joe Root, Eon Morgan and the dangerous Jos Butler in the middle order. England bowling is very decent but once again lack of a quality spinner will hurt them in the current mega event. England winning chances will depend on the ability to play spin bowling in Indian dead conditions, it can be very tough but they have a chance to stay in the event till the end.

5.       South Africa:

No doubt South Africans have one of the best batting line-ups in the world. Anyhow I don’t want to mention anything about ABD here right now, he is just unbelievable in all formats. Including Miller, Amla, Faf, , De Cock and Duminy. Even without ABD’s name over there it still looks extremely strong.

Morkel and Steyn both have yet not played too much T20 cricket in the recent times but I think they will play in this t20 world cup. Kyle Abbott is very consistent since few years; Duminy can chip in tough situations. Imran Tahir can be very effective in ODIs and T20s. Steyn and Tahir will be key for their chances in the mega event. But, you know quite well that they are South Africans. Always starts as favorites and then fail to cross the border line. Hopefully when they start current mega event what they do something thing wonderful this time.

6.       Pakistan:

I love watching them play cricket Pakistan. I love to mention it there is some kind of raw elements in them that makes their cricket more exciting. Undoubtedly unpredictable but yet very strong. Pakistani bowling attack has never been a worry for them; but they have a bottomless pool of good fast bowlers recently. Boom boom Shahid Afridi has been really good with the bat as well as with the ball for Pakistan in T20s. Variations in his bowling bring him a lot of wickets. Their batting is strong in terms of young talent. Ahmed Shehzad can be really good at many times, same with goes Umar Akmal. Some time it depends a lot on how they perform together. In-form Shoab Malik’s is a very positive sign for them and generally Hafeez is going consistent in Asian conditions. Pakistan a Lot depends on these two talented players.

7.       India:

Non other than India in India can be the toughest opponent for any team. They know extremely well the conditions better than anyone else and they have one of the noisiest crowds of the world standing right behind them. This time India’s batting is their strength as always. Especially when it comes to Indian conditions they are more even better. Virat Kohli probably is one of the best T20 batsmen in the world with highest average of (44) among those players who ever had played 20 or more matches.

Everyone knows extremely well that how dangerous Rohit Sharma can be in the shorter formats like t20. When he starts to fire, then consider the game is definitely in India’s hands. And as we all know that Suresh Raina is a very destructive batsman in T20 who can chip in quite brilliantly with those crucial overs in bowling. In the form of MS Dhoni they have a very good finisher. Jadeja’s all-round abilities will provide be a lot of help.
Indian’s spin department looks very strong with Ashwin, Jadeja and Mishra but fast bowling is a big worry for India in the current mega event. When we talk about the death overs especially. Shami’s fitness is still a huge problem; Bhuvi has stopped swinging the ball completely and Ishant? – I don’t know about him. Chances of both the players depend on how they bowl in death overs.

8.       Newzealand:

Newzealanders have the bowling, batting and fielding. They always performed very good in ICC tournaments. Newzealand have strong batting line up with McCollum, Williamson, Taylor, and Anderson. Kewies fast bowling is in safe hands with Southee and Boult but spin can be worry for them too as like some other teams. They didn’t find a good spinner yet after Vettori reduced playing international cricket in the format like t20. Their winning chance once again depends on the ability to play spin especially in Indian Conditions.
