After conducting his internal investigation into the scandal of Alberto Patron and Paige at an Orlando airport a month ago, GFW decided to strip the Mexican of his maximum title, the GFW Unified Fullweight World Championship, which he had won at the stellar Slammiversary After beating Lashley.
The decision came after the company determined that although El Patrón had not engaged in domestic violence, as was initially believed, if he conducted himself inappropriately during the scandal.
A few minutes ago, Alberto the Patron issued a brief statement through Instagram, in which he explained the decision and his personal support to it:
“My company Impact and I have reached the agreement that it is better for both parties if I am stripped of the championships. I gave the suggestion to show that Impact has no favorites and everyone is treated the same. I apologize to the fans and my brothers and sisters in the company, even when everything came out clean and there were no bad deeds, it’s still a scandal . Thank you for your support and move forward in a positive way.
The image with the statement was accompanied by the following text:
“This is positive, guys, I promise. Treat him as such. God bless you all and I hope you have a great day. “
At the moment, Alberto is still suspended from GFW, although the company is optimistic that the Mexican, its biggest star of the moment, will return to work with them in time for its next set of recordings.
