No Mercy (2007), The Night With Five World Championship Fights

We are just weeks away from a new edition of WWE No Mercy , this time as RAW’s exclusive PPV , in which the WWE Universal Championship will be in play between Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman; First hand-to-hand encounter between the two.

Now, ten years ago, at WWE No Mercy 2007, fans witnessed an unprecedented feat, having (in addition to a fight for the women’s title) 5 World Championship matches (three for the WWE Championship, one for the Championship World Heavyweight Championship, and one for the ECW Championship) , and in which among other things, we saw Randy Orton crowned twice in one night.

The matches that took place that night, in which the three World Championships already mentioned were involved, were:

WWE Championship
Randy Orton vs. Triple H

The event had begun with the coronation of Randy Orton like Champion WWE ; Being this his second reign like World-wide Champion and the first like maximum monarch of the company. This because John Cena , who until that event was the champion, had been injured when tearing the right pectoral tendon .

After this, Triple H came on the scene to confront McMahon and Orton, and after a crossword of words, both gladiators clashed in the first fight of the evening and by the maximum scepter of the red mark, and where, after a meeting Fast, “The Game” managed to win the title to join eleven world achievements.

ECW CM Punk vs. Full Weight Championship
Big Daddy V

Perhaps the least important fight of the event, and that, for a change, showed the bad moment that ECW passed as one of the three marks of WWE.

The fight was really short, and due to the large size of Big Daddy V, did not allow CM Punk to get the best out of his repertoire. To top it off, the fight ended in disqualification due to interference from Matt Striker , thus allowing Punk to retain the ECW Championship.

WWE Championship
Triple H vs. Umaga

Before beating Orton for the WWE Championship, Triple H was announced that night to face Umaga ; For which, Vince McMahon ordered that said fight would continue scheduled, but now with Championship WWE in game .

The shock was short and ended with victory of the champion , but allowed Umaga to fight a Triple H who could not imagine what was to come that night .

Punjabi Prison
World Heavyweight Championship
Batista Vs. The Great Khali

The second fight of this style saw Collider “Animal” Batista against the creator of Punjabi Prison, The Great Khali .

The fight was intense, slow at times, but without a doubt, it ended up being more entertaining, of course not by much, than its predecessor, and that we saw recently between Randy Orton and Jinder Mahal in Battleground this year .

In the end, Batista retained the title by escaping from Punjabi Prison , ending his rivalry with Khali.

WWE Championship
Last Man Standing Match
Triple H vs. Randy Orton

The last fight of the event was, for the second time in a same night, between “The Game” and “The Legend Killer”, but this time, in a fight of Last Man in Foot . It should be noted that this duel originally was to face Randy against John Cena, but due to the aforementioned injury, it ended up agreeing among those already mentioned.

The fight was the longest of the night and was brutal from start to finish, setting a historic moment for Orton’s career , who defeated Hunter to get his second WWE Championship in just three hours . The era of “The Viper” began.
