Original Plans For The Mae Young Classic Final

Several hours ago, we reported here on SUCCESSFUL some of the future plans for the Mae Young Classic participants, as well as the continuity of the format of the tournament, which could repeat edition for 2018. In total, 14 hiring and 3 possible, with the main fighters of the tournament within the list, although it continues in the air the signature of certain relevant names. But Dave Meltzer also wanted to flashback on the contest and unveiled the original creative line for the final that disputed Kairi Sane and Shayna Baszler .

According to the editor of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter , the first idea was to have Sane against Toni Storm , with the Japanese defeating the Australian . However, as we know, this shock finally took place during the semifinals. A change that was executed by the officials once it was decided to go ahead with the angle between the Four Horsewomen of UFC and WWE , which, however, was not formalized after the final, and is expected to do so in the face of No Mercy (2017 ). Meltzer notes that the final decision was taken on Monday, as was Sane’s final victory . Therefore, this was not considered as a winner from the beginning.

Many followers and a server included, in fact believed that Sane vs. Storm would be the last duel of the MYC , by age, prestige and popularity around the world of both. Specifically, the second is perhaps the talent with the most potential to succeed within the McMahon product , and so evidence that the company’s radar remains on it. Storm, hopefully not, may represent the same case as that of Kota Ibushi during the Cruiserweight Classic – a favorite left out of the final for similar contractual reasons as the gladiator decided to continue working in Japan.

Meanwhile, Storm continues his struggles . Thus, participated in the first six days of the recent tournament Stardom 5Star Grand Prix and Monday in England successfully defended the PROGRESS Women’s Championship, against Dahlia Black . The next few weeks will be key to knowing the future of this and other former Mae Young Classic participants. We will have to be attentive to any novelty, by the hand of SUPER STRUGGLES.
