Undertaker Wrestlemania 33: The sequels continue to follow the epilogue of WrestleMania 33. One that many, including a server, thought it would not happen. Basically, because Roman Reigns did not have the legitimacy to be the last rival of The Undertaker. Maybe we just meet in terms of WM, since Taker himself said that the “Show Show” would no longer define his career. But with the passing of the hours and the amount of signals that even the WWE itself is leaving through the social networks, much I fear that it is a complete retreat.
In any case, we are , in my view, the true end of an era. That “slogan” that Triple H used to define his third and final fight against Taker, under WM XXVIII, is now fully effective. Perhaps Hunter’s celebrated ego led him to advance events, simply because he himself participated in the struggle. Or perhaps because back in 2012, WWE considered the withdrawal of “The Phenomenon” imminent.
But five more rivals would have to cement their legacy, including Brock Lesnar, who would end up with La Racha in WM XXX. And not even this fact constituted the said end. In return, the victory of Reigns last Sunday yes that represents a change of cycle, because the objective of the fight was to realize a passage of torch. A separate issue is debating whether the Samoan was the right choice, there being a Finn Bálor that only one day later made his return on Monday Night Raw.
Is supposed to Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker and HHH represent the quintessential image of that era he was leaving, but the very inclusion of the latter is free. Although the three figures are close in age, I consider that only the first two belong to the best generation in WWE history , who lived their explosion in the early 90’s and served as a bridge to achieve the Attitude Era.
Let’s keep in mind that Hunter’s debut came at WM XII (1996), not only of Michaels’ career, but of another contemporary standard, Bret Hart , with that historic 60-minute Iron Man. Therefore, despite the pretensions of “The Game”, we speak of different contexts. A similar postcard, but in return, next to The Rock and Stone Cold , yes that would be correct.
In my opinion the best bout in history, Michaels offered his particular swan song under WM XXVI, marking the beginning of the end. And as the connoisseurs know, Taker had the honor of removing it. I continue to insist on the excellence of this duel and I will continue doing it whenever it is necessary, because it is impossible to imagine a better background story to arm and justify such a rematch. It will be very difficult for WWE to repeat the grandiosity, importance and uncertainty that generated the stellar of this “Showcase of the Immortals”.
He tried to do it last Sunday, without success, because La Racha no longer matters and Reigns enjoys little sympathy, to put it mildly. Still, despite the rumors, I think the WWE Universe did not expect to see “The Phenomenon” leave their gloves, their coat and their hat on the ring. As with true legends, one never believes that they can ever say goodbye.
There is no doubt the historical convergence that took HBK and Taker for three decades. Indicative of magic and uniqueness are the few times WWE has seen them in dispute. The first rivalry (1997/98), with its particular epiphany through the first Hell in a Cell and Coffin Wrestling, laid the foundation for Attitude Era and offered us chemistry among rarely seen talents.
The forced stop over 4 years of “Mr. WrestleMania “surely truncated another crossroads, which did not arrive until a decade later, in the Royal Rumble of 2007, and prolonged a posteriori in the edition of No Way Out of the same year. The third crossing, on the way to WM 25, took, fortunately, less to arrive (2009), and the final, already commented, even less. Curiously, it seems that looking for the round anniversary, two decades after its original shock inside the Hell Cell, the cycle closes. Was it just that Michaels was the only figure involved in the angle – to call it somehow – between Reigns and Taker?
SUPER STRUGGLES drafted a poll last year that established the Deadman as the best wrestler in WWE history. And I believe that today, in view of the situation, it
deserves to occupy rightfully the gold throne on the Olympus of the McMahon product, together with HBK . On March 29, 2010 marked the beginning of twilight of an era that definitively concluded on April 2, 2017. Timeline where the PG tone and the Women’s Revolution were consolidated, two atypical wrestlers ( CM Punk and Daniel Bryan ) left a Lasting footprint and opened the way for other talents, and the second separation of marks is the consequence of increasingly fierce proselytizing.
Some say that the company has today the best remittance of names of all its history, but the important thing happens to have a good creative management. The somewhat disruptive, over information of the amateur and his complacency (a problem pointed out by Michaels himself ) are a great handicap to keep the term
“magic” alive , an essential point that at the same time fosters innovation. And of course, the creativity of that stage that Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker starred was a plus.
